Anton Stefanescu:

In 1895 he married Varvara who was half Greek from Braila and half Greek from Aegina island.

Her father was George Rodis (Ρόδης), son of Anton Rodis.
In the 19th century in Romania the family name of the child was the given name of the father.
For this reason George Rodis was named George Antoniu because his father given name was Anton.
George was born in 1840 in Aegina and he died in 1926 in Braila.
After year 1900 the family name of the child was the same as his father's family name.
I asked for the death certificate of George Antoniu and I got no document. After this I asked for the
death certificate of George Rodis and I got it ! So George so called Anton(iu) died as George Rodis.
The same was for Anton Stefanescu who was the son of Stefan Aitici who came from Ilok, Croatia.
When he died he died as Anton Aitici "so called" Stefan(escu) - son of Stefan.
Anton & Varvara had a lot of children.

Their first son is my grandfather, Stere Stefanescu, born in 1895.
Stere in 1933
